The Hero in Burnham overy Staithe is, in our humble opinion, the perfect coastal pub. A cosy bolthole of a bar with a roaring woodburner in the winter and doors flung open to impossibly sunny terraces in the summer. The food is local, delicious and the exact right balance between pub food (the homemade burger and skinny fries or fresh crispy fish and chips) and sophisticated choices like twice baked blue cheese soufflé, charred broccoli and muhammara with house made pitta. There is always a huge specials board, which reflect the season and the best of local produce, crab, asparagus, new potatoes etc. and everything is sourced as locally as possible. The buzzing atmosphere is a good mix of locals, weekend boaties, families on holiday and walkers taking a break from the coastal path. We love it.
